6 PLA warships, 2 PLA aircraft encroach on Taiwan; ROC Armed Forces maintain close monitoring

(CNA, Taipei, July 2, 2024) The Ministry of National Defense (MND) today released information on People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and naval vessels activity. From 6 a.m. yesterday to 6 a.m. today, six PLA warships, five coast guard vessels, and two PLA aircraft were detected encroaching on the southwestern airspace across the median line of the Taiwan Strait. The ROC Armed Forces utilized mission aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missile systems for close monitoring and response.

The MND released the PLA aircraft and naval vessels activity this morning. From 6 a.m. yesterday to 6 a.m. today, six PLA warships, five coast guard vessels, and five PLA aircraft were detected. Among them, two PLA aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait into the southwestern airspace and continued to operate around the Taiwan Strait.
