(Central News Agency, reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, July 3) Carcinogen Benzo(a)pyrene in Chung Lien soybean salad oil exceeded the limit. The Changhua County Department of Health stated that Chung Lien shipped 291 tons to Taishan. Taishan's oil products had four major destinations, and 54 tons from major channels such as PX Mart, Da-Chuan PX Mart, Wanjiafu, Meilian She, and small businesses have been completely removed from shelves.

On July 1, the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare received a report from Chung Lien Oil Corporation that a batch of soybean salad oil raw material, approximately 1,300 tons, used by companies including Fwusow Industry, Formosa Oil & Fats, and Taishan Enterprise, was found to have a carcinogen "Benzo(a)pyrene" content exceeding the regulatory limit.

The Changhua County Department of Health told CNA reporters in the evening that the batch of raw material from Chung Lien was manufactured on April 4 and shipped to Taishan between April 8 and 9, totaling about 291 tons. Of this, 100 tons were supplied to other businesses to produce secondary products such as blended oils and sauces; 37 tons of oil were provided to businesses for feed production; and 100 tons were used by Taishan to produce other secondary products like blended oils.

In addition, the Department of Health stated that 54 tons were distributed to large chain stores and over 80 small businesses. Among these, PX Mart accounted for about 45 tons, Da-Chuan PX Mart about 1 ton, Wanjiafu about 0.8 tons, and Meilian She about 1.2 tons. Unsold goods and inventory have been completely removed from shelves.
