(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chao-wen, Taipei, July 3) The Central Weather Administration issued a typhoon formation message this morning. The tropical depression originally located in the South China Sea developed into a tropical storm at 2 a.m., designated as the 10th typhoon, Maysak (international name: MAYSAK). It is predicted to move northwestward in the future, with no direct impact on Taiwan.
The Central Weather Administration stated that Maysak's center was located at 2 a.m. today at 17.1 degrees north latitude and 109.8 degrees east longitude, moving north at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour.
