China-Russia "Maritime Cooperation-2026" Joint Exercise Opens

(CNA Taipei, July 6) According to Direct News, at around 9 AM on July 6, the opening ceremony of the China-Russia "Maritime Cooperation-2026" Joint Exercise was held at a naval port in Qingdao, Shandong. After the joint exercise concludes, some forces from both sides will proceed to relevant waters in the Pacific Ocean to organize a joint maritime patrol.

This exercise establishes a joint directing department and a joint command, composed of mixed personnel from the Chinese and Russian navies. The Chinese chief director stated that the Chinese and Russian navies, as important components of the bilateral military relationship, are engaging in increasingly frequent interactions, with more diverse forms of exchange and continuously expanding areas of cooperation.

It is pointed out that "Maritime Cooperation," as an important joint exercise mechanism for the two navies, has become an important platform for consolidating and developing bilateral military relations, enhancing strategic mutual trust, and improving joint operational capabilities after more than 10 years of practice. It has elevated the level of practical cooperation between the two navies and their ability to jointly respond to maritime threats.

The Russian chief director stated that the "Maritime Cooperation" exercise has become an effective platform for enhancing operational coordination capabilities, exchanging professional experience, and strengthening the coordination of maritime formation operations. This exercise will promote mutual trust between the military personnel of the two countries and enhance their ability to jointly maintain regional peace and stability.

Following the opening ceremony, the navies of both countries will jointly conduct command simulations and tactical coordination. The joint command will conduct in-depth discussions on key exercise subjects during the maritime exercise phase and finalize coordination points.
