Taipei, July 6 (CNA) The Central News Agency (CNA) held the opening ceremony for its "All-Round Anchor Camp" today. As AI anchor technology becomes increasingly mature, CNA President Hu Wan-ling led trainees in a discussion about the relationship between AI and news work, emphasizing that interviewing, verification, and on-the-spot adaptability are the core values of human anchors.

CNA's five-day All-Round Anchor Camp covers everything from news gathering, writing, and broadcasting to AI applications, fact-checking, and live reporting. It aims to provide trainees with an in-depth understanding of the news production process, encourage them to reconsider the irreplaceable value of human anchors in the AI era, and cultivate media literacy, logical thinking, and communication skills.

Through the professional courses offered at CNA's All-Round Anchor Camp, participants can personally experience news broadcasting, gain insight into the work of journalists and anchors, further master communication techniques, and enhance their personal charisma. The program includes the awarding of completion certificates, adding to participants' qualifications.

Today, Hu Wan-ling discussed the impact of AI on the journalism industry with the young students attending. The first session was titled "Human vs. AI." Hu Wan-ling admitted that AI anchors are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but news work involves more than just broadcasting; it requires interviewing, verification, and on-the-spot adaptability, all of which are crucial values for human anchors.

Hu Wan-ling further explained that while AI anchors may make fewer mistakes and directly convert text into visual output for broadcasting, they might struggle to respond and handle situations in real-time if an interviewee deviates from the script.

The trainees in the audience were highly engaged by Hu Wan-ling's teaching, with many enthusiastically sharing their thoughts. Some trainees expressed their hope to learn about the work of reporters and anchors, aiming for a deeper understanding of the news industry. Another trainee commented that while AI anchors are convenient and boast a 100% accuracy rate, emotional expression and real-time reactions are irreplaceable aspects of human anchors.

The anchor camp, which begins today, offers five days of comprehensive courses. On the first day, Hu Wan-ling kicked off the sessions with "Human vs. AI," discussing the irreplaceable value of human anchors in the AI era. Additionally, CNA's All-Media Center reporter Lu Yun-wei shared fundamental skills in news gathering and writing.

The remaining four days of the camp include "Perfect Makeup and Styling," with makeup artists and hairstylists optimizing participants' personal styles and appearances. CNA Digital News Center photographer Chang Hsin-wei will also conduct "Headshot Photography and Experience Sharing," focusing on understanding the who, what, when, where, and why of news and conveying information to the audience through visuals.

Furthermore, the curriculum features "English News Production and Broadcasting," "Anchor Oral Expression and Live Reporting Know-How," "News Professionals Seek Truth: Identifying Disinformation and Fact-Checking," practical live reporting exercises, and guidance on handling international news.

The final day includes a practical "One-Day Anchor" experience, where participants will visit a studio and broadcast live. This session aims to strengthen fundamental skills such as enunciation and delivery, teach how to interact with the camera, and impart knowledge on interpreting and conveying news angles with an international perspective.
