TAIPEI, Taiwan (CNA) -- Taiwan and Ukraine are continuing to deepen their cooperation by assisting Ukrainian youth in enhancing their digital capabilities. Liu Yong-jian, Taiwan's Representative to Poland, attended the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding and Donation Agreement for the second phase of a project on July 6, stating that Taiwan will continue to support Ukraine with concrete actions and serve as a steadfast partner.
Liu Yong-jian attended the signing ceremony for the second phase of the "Leave No One Behind Partnership (LNBP)" via video conference. The project will allocate resources to help Ukrainian youth improve their digital skills, cultivating key competencies such as digital literacy, innovation, and leadership. Liu expressed Taiwan's hope to enhance the information capabilities of Ukraine's new generation through the project and convey warmth and friendship from Taiwan.
Following the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, many children and adolescents had their education interrupted by the conflict. Between 2024 and 2025, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Poland, in collaboration with the Ukrainian non-governmental organization "All-Ukrainian Forum of Democracy" and the Ukrainian Catholic University, promoted the first phase of the LNBP project. This phase provided over 1,200 laptops from Taiwan and offered programming and robotics training courses for teachers, benefiting a total of 96 schools and over 65,000 students.
During his speech, Liu Yong-jian affirmed the achievements of the first phase of the LNBP project and thanked the Ukrainian partners for their contributions. He stated that the results demonstrate Taiwan's commitment to assisting Ukraine in achieving the shared goal of "leaving no child's education behind," even amidst ongoing conflict.
Attendees at the ceremony included Ukrainian Member of Parliament Mykola Kniazhytskyi, Executive Director of the "All-Ukrainian Forum of Democracy" Iryna Gandziuk, and Project Manager Ulyana Pak. Ukrainian representatives acknowledged the successful outcomes of the first phase of the LNBP cooperation and expressed gratitude for Taiwan's continued investment of resources to aid Ukraine, bringing support and hope to people affected by the war.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Taiwan has provided over $150 million USD in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Recently, the "Taiwan Friendship Building," a rehabilitation center rebuilt with Taiwan's assistance at the UNBROKEN medical complex in Lviv, was announced as completed. It is expected to serve tens of thousands of patients annually. (Editor: Chen Hui-ping) 1150707
