The "Wind City Shines, City 3-on-3" 3x3 Basketball Tournament, organized by the Hsinchu City Government, completed its preliminary rounds from July 4th to 5th at the Xiangshan Sports Center, attracting 721 players and 185 teams competing in categories such as junior high, high school, open, corporate, and family.
The finals, originally scheduled to be held on July 11th and 12th with a street closure in front of the Hsinchu City Hall, are likely to be postponed due to the potential impact of the typhoon.
The organizers issued a statement today indicating that they will closely observe meteorological data and will announce whether the event will be postponed by Thursday evening at the latest. Furthermore, the organizers guarantee that if safety concerns are identified after evaluation, the competition will be "postponed," with the scale of the event, prize money, and player rights remaining as originally planned.
3x3 basketball in Taiwan has seen a surge in popularity since the men's team won gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games. This city cup-style tournament, hosted by Hsinchu City, is equally well-loved by basketball enthusiasts. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150706
