(CNA Taipei, July 6) Democratic Progressive Party Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang met with the Veterinarian Association today, stating that acquiring land for pet cremation and related facilities in Taipei is difficult, and the capacity for after-death services is insufficient. He aims to understand the frontline challenges and integrate related feedback into sound policy proposals.
Shen Po-yang attended the "Veterinarian Association Forum" this afternoon. In his speech, he said that today's main purpose is to listen to everyone's opinions. He believes Taipei is a city with ample resources, but how to use them effectively is key. Besides focusing on improving the next generation, many people now consider their "fur babies" as family, and veterinarians are their guardians.
He mentioned that veterinarians' work also includes warding off unseen threats, such as swine flu and plague prevention, which fall within their scope of work.
Furthermore, Shen Po-yang added that acquiring land for pet cremation and related facilities in Taipei is difficult, and the capacity for after-death services, including refrigeration, still needs strengthening. What more can the Taipei City Government do with its abundant resources is the important question. Today, he hopes to understand the difficulties encountered by everyone on the frontline and the needs of the public in caring for their fur babies, to better integrate these into future policy proposals.
