(CNA Reporter Tseng Jen-kai Taipei, July 6) Chicony Power announced today that its June revenue reached NT$3.1 billion, an increase of 14.5% month-on-month and a decrease of 0.77% year-on-year, marking the highest single-month revenue in nearly a year. Looking ahead, Chicony Power admitted that although the second half of the year is the traditional peak season, the pressure of technological inflation is unlikely to be eliminated in the short term, and its impact on end-market demand remains to be observed.
Chicony Power explained that the June revenue's return to the NT$3 billion mark, the highest in the past 12 months, was mainly due to the continued digestion of deferred orders from May and the pull effect from customers at the end of the quarter, which boosted shipments of notebook and server power supplies. This was complemented by the successful ramp-up of new high-wattage communication power supply models.
Facing the shortage and price increases of components such as memory this year, which have dragged down PC market shipments, Chicony Power's second-quarter revenue was NT$8.443 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 7.5% and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 8.5%, performing better than initially expected. Accumulated revenue for the first half of the year was NT$16.227 billion, a year-on-year decline of 7.7%.
Chicony Power stated that although the second half of the year is the traditional peak season, the impact of technological inflation pressure on end-market demand still needs to be observed. With the support of rigid demand for notebooks, it is expected that as the market gradually digests inflation and price fluctuations, consumers will begin to accept the new price norm, and overall market demand is expected to rebound steadily. Chicony Power maintains a cautiously optimistic outlook for the overall second-half performance. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih) 1150706
