(CNA, Penghu County, July 6) A Penghu man surnamed Liu was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Penghu District Court for selling a ketamine vape cartridge last year, in violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention and Control Act.
The Penghu District Court ruling stated that Liu, knowing that ketamine is a Category 2 narcotic under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention and Control Act, and that it is illegal to possess or sell without permission, intended to profit and committed the offense of selling a Category 2 narcotic. On May 20, 2025, at approximately 5:15 PM, in a second-floor room of a residence in Shuangtougua, Magong City, he sold one ketamine vape cartridge (approximately 2ml) for NT$3,000 to a man surnamed Chang. He was subsequently investigated and indicted by the Penghu District Prosecutor's Office after being transferred by the Penghu County Police Bureau.
The Penghu District Prosecutor's Office stated that if Liu had been involved in the case this year, his sentence could have been increased to death or life imprisonment, as ketamine has been upgraded from a Category 2 to a Category 1 narcotic. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 0706115
