(CNA, Taipei, July 6) Typhoon Bavi is approaching Taiwan. The Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced today that all sea passenger transport routes will operate normally on July 7th and 8th. Services on the 9th and thereafter may be affected by the typhoon. The bureau urges travelers to outlying islands to return to the mainland early.

According to observations by the Central Weather Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the center of Typhoon Bavi was located at 14.3 degrees north latitude and 145.0 degrees east longitude at 8 a.m. today, moving northwest by west at a speed of 23 kilometers per hour.

The Maritime and Port Bureau stated that according to the weather administration's forecast, Typhoon Bavi will have the most significant impact between July 10th and 11th. All sea passenger transport routes will operate normally on July 7th and 8th. Services on the 9th and thereafter may be affected by the typhoon.

The Maritime and Port Bureau urges travelers to take advantage of the normal sailings in the coming days to return early. It also advises against traveling to outlying islands for the time being to avoid potential delays due to subsequent flight cancellations.
