(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 7) Taipei Metro announced today that the upgrade of the arrival display screens on the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line trains is expected to be completed in 2029. Currently, two trains have been updated, replacing LED displays with large full-color liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that present real-time train locations and stations in four languages.
Taipei Metro released information today about the upgrade of the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line train arrival display screens, stating that the renovated trains will be gradually put into operation.
Taipei Metro said that the old LED displays used single-line scrolling text or simple icons to show arrival information. The two trains that have been updated now use large full-color liquid crystal screens, presenting the train's real-time location and stations in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean, along with full-color dynamic icons.
Taipei Metro explained that train cars are gradually replaced based on usage. As the arrival display screens on the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line trains are nearing their reset lifespan, 33 trains will be prioritized for upgrades. The renovation is expected to be completed in batches by 2029, making it the first line to have all its arrival display screens fully upgraded.
Taipei Metro stated that on the updated arrival display screens, the first and fourth car doors in each carriage will use approximately 27-inch full-color liquid crystal screens due to space constraints, while the second and third car doors will have approximately 48-inch full-color liquid crystal screens installed above them.
