Salaries for Non-Supervisory Employees at 4 Publicly-Owned Banks and 2 Securities Firms Revealed; First Financial Holding Tops with Median Salary of NT$1.47 Million

(CNA Taipei, July 7, 2024) According to information disclosed by four publicly-owned banks and two securities firms regarding their full-time non-supervisory employees last year, First Financial Holding surpassed the previous top two, Cooperative Financial Holding and Mega Financial Holding, with its employee median salary reaching NT$1.473 million, a 5.06% increase compared to 2024.

According to salary statistics for full-time non-supervisory employees at listed companies disclosed on the Market Observation Post System, the average salary in the financial and insurance industry was NT$1.592 million, with an average earnings per share (EPS) of NT$2.67.

Statistics observing the "salary situation" of employees at four publicly-owned banks and two securities firms, using the median, which better reflects the salary level of grassroots employees, show First Financial Holding ranked first with NT$1.473 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.06%; Chang Hwa Commercial Bank ranked second with NT$1.455 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%; Cooperative Financial Holding ranked third with NT$1.446 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.41%; Mega Financial Holding with NT$1.442 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.28%; Taiwan Business Bank with NT$1.332 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.59%; and Hua Nan Financial Holdings with NT$1.322 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

If observed by average salary, Mega Financial Holding continued to lead with NT$1.692 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.76%; First Financial Holding ranked second with NT$1.62 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.26%; Chang Hwa Commercial Bank ranked third with NT$1.558 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.28%; Hua Nan Financial Holdings with NT$1.529 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.96%; Cooperative Financial Holding with NT$1.525 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.59%; and Taiwan Business Bank with NT$1.463 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.03%.

It is worth noting that when compared to the salary levels of private financial holding companies, the median employee salaries of First Financial Holding, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank, Cooperative Financial Holding, and Mega Financial Holding all surpassed those of private financial holding companies. However, when comparing average salaries, Mega Financial Holding, which ranked first among public institutions, lagged behind CTBC Financial Holding at NT$1.82 million, Cathay Financial Holding at NT$1.776 million, Fubon Financial Holding at NT$1.727 million, and Yuanta Financial Holding at NT$1.71 million.
