(CNA, Taipei, July 7) - Lin Rui-jie, a 23-year-old graduate student pitcher from National Cheng Kung University, was passed over in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) draft three times. This year, he showcased a 158 kph fastball in the MLB Draft League, attracting offers from at least two teams. He has now officially signed with the Minnesota Twins.

Lin Rui-jie aimed to enter professional baseball while studying at Taiwan Sport University in 2023. That year, he clocked 152 kph at the CPBL tryouts but was not drafted. Interested in the topic of "pitching amnesia," he chose to pursue higher education, enrolling in National Cheng Kung University's Graduate Institute of Sports and Health Recreation. He also conducted related research in the biomechanics lab, but never gave up his dream of playing professionally.

Lin Rui-jie participated in the CPBL draft from 2023 to 2025 but was still not selected by any team. This year, he traveled to the United States to compete in the MLB Draft League, where he recorded a fastest pitch of 158 kph. It is understood that Lin Rui-jie's strong performance garnered offers from more than one team, with the Twins offering a more favorable signing bonus to secure him.

Lin Rui-jie has completed his physical examination and officially joined the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball. He shared the good news on his personal social media, stating, "Thank you, Twins, for giving me this opportunity to start from here and continue to move towards my dream."

Lin Rui-jie wrote in his post, thanking the coaches, friends, and agent who helped him along the way. "Some people practiced with me early in the morning; some gave me an opportunity or some ideas when I most wanted to give up." He also mentioned that he will continue to work hard and enjoy baseball.
