(Central News Agency Reporter He Xiu-ling Taipei, July 7) Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated that the first half of this year benefited from the resumption of operations at the Taichung store and the addition of the Xiaobei store, with overall sales increasing by about 20% year-on-year. The June mid-year sale period achieved double-digit growth. To continue boosting business opportunities, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi will launch its Summer Card HIGH promotion on the 9th, anticipating strong sales in dining, 3C products, and high-priced items, with an overall sales growth target of nearly 40% year-on-year.
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi held a press conference for the Summer Card HIGH promotion today. A Shin Kong Mitsukoshi executive stated that the company's sales in the first half of this year grew by about 20%. Excluding the Taichung store, which resumed operations at the end of September last year, and the Tainan Xiaobei store, which opened in September last year, existing stores maintained positive growth. The mid-year sale period, which concluded in June this year, also saw sales increase by over 20%. This year, benefiting from the resumption of operations at the Taichung store and the addition of the Xiaobei store, customer traffic increased by over 10% year-on-year, and the average transaction value increased by about 3%.
Looking ahead to the summer business opportunities, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated that due to an increase in family customers, coupled with drivers like Father's Day and Valentine's Day, dining is expected to be the main growth engine. The Summer Card HIGH promotion, starting on the 9th, is expected to boost sales of 3C products and high-priced items through high rebates, and will combine with multiple themed exhibitions across Taiwan to attract young consumers and families to the stores.
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated that its e-commerce platform, SKM Online, continues to deepen its OMO (Online-Merge-Offline) omnichannel layout. Currently, the e-commerce platform features two major digital pavilions: SKM BEAUTY, which focuses on a nationwide counter beauty platform, and SKM MEN’S, positioned as an exclusive shopping platform for men, connecting new product discovery, content experience, and physical department store services.
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi stated that SKM Online's revenue accounts for about 4% of its total revenue, with the main customer base being women aged 20 to 40. To attract younger customers, SKM BEAUTY has approximately half of its overall makeup structure composed of Korean beauty brands, with the rest being primarily European, American, and Japanese brands. The main customer group for skincare products is around 32 to 40 years old, with stable demand for repair-focused products.
Regarding SKM MEN’S, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi pointed out that male consumers tend to be rational and place more importance on product introductions and styling content. They typically make purchases after continuous promotion and content communication, but the online average transaction value is relatively high, with accessories such as hats, jewelry, and fragrances showing relatively outstanding performance.
