(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei, July 7) New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih inspected flood control preparations at Dakekeng Creek and Wenzizhen Bridge No. 4 in Wugu and Taishan this afternoon. While supervising grassroots construction during a mobile governance meeting in Wugu, he announced that this year's Christmasland event will be expanded to include areas such as Wugu's "Garbage Mountain" and will begin with a lighting ceremony in early November.

Hou Yu-ih personally inspected the construction of "Wenzizhen Redevelopment Zone Bridge No. 4 (Minsheng)" and the Dakekeng Creek Water Environment Creation Project this afternoon. Bridge No. 4 is a crucial bridge connecting the Xinzhuang and Taishan areas. To avoid the impact of the flood season on the construction schedule, a "precast lifting method" was specifically adopted for its construction.

The Land Administration Bureau stated that after the beam components are fabricated at the precast yard, they will be transported to the site for installation. This not only significantly shortens the construction period but also optimizes construction quality. The bridge is expected to be completed and open to traffic in the second half of 2026, which will greatly improve the traffic flow in the Xintai area and further reduce regional commuting times.

As Typhoon Bavi gradually approaches Taiwan, Hou Yu-ih specifically addressed typhoon preparedness during his inspection, emphasizing that all bureaus and district offices must use the next few days to complete self-inspections and pre-position equipment. They should also inform citizens of typhoon updates and disaster response information through various channels to ensure citizens cooperate with all preventive measures.

The city government held a mobile governance grassroots construction supervision and discussion session in Wugu District in the form of a dinner. In his speech, Hou Yu-ih thanked the village chiefs for their efforts in promoting municipal affairs and stated that unfinished tasks will be tracked and handed over to the next mayor for implementation.

He announced that this year's Christmasland event will incorporate Wugu's "Garbage Mountain" (now renamed Green Summer Land) as part of the Christmasland venue. The lighting ceremony is scheduled for early November. He hopes that by expanding the event to multiple locations, everyone can happily celebrate Christmas. (Edited by Chang Ming-kun) 1150707
