Taipei, Taiwan, July 7 (CNA) The digitally restored version of the film "Runaway Dream" will return to the big screen on July 8. Chu Ming-jen, chairman of the National Film and Audiovisual Center of Taiwan, said at the premiere today that considerable effort was spent clarifying copyrights for the re-release, hoping to evoke emotion once more and honored to present the film at Cannes.

A premiere was held today for the classic film "Runaway Dream." Chu Ming-jen, chairman of the National Film and Audiovisual Center of Taiwan, and Tseng Shu-chin, the original singer of the theme song, gathered to witness the return of this classic Taiwanese film, which spans 37 years, to the big screen. At the premiere, Tseng Shu-chin, along with members of the La-Rien-Ren Children's Choir, performed the theme song "Runaway Dream."

Chu Ming-jen stated that the decision to re-release "Runaway Dream" was based on public vote. At the time, the National Film and Audiovisual Center of Taiwan asked the public to vote for their "favorite Taiwanese feature film," and "Runaway Dream" was the top choice. He noted that this was a cross-generational vote, and he had thought many had forgotten it, but "Runaway Dream" clearly has great appeal.

However, re-releasing "Runaway Dream" was not simple. Chu Ming-jen admitted that clarifying the copyrights required a great deal of effort. "After clarifying the copyrights, we had to spend money on restoration. This allows us to promote Taiwan's treasures, not just in Taiwan. "Runaway Dream" was also selected for the Cannes Classics section, enabling us to promote this film overseas."

Regarding the film's main actors, Lee Shu-chen and Huang Kun-hsuan, Chu Ming-jen mentioned that he had been in contact with Lee Shu-chen, who wrote a thank-you letter and revealed that she had recently finished filming. Chu Ming-jen commented on Lee Shu-chen's busy schedule, saying, "It's remarkable that Lee Shu-chen has continued to cultivate her acting career, transitioning from a child star to the present. We should offer her encouragement and support." As for Huang Kun-hsuan, who portrayed "Gu A-ming" vividly, Chu Ming-jen said that Huang Kun-hsuan is more low-key and currently works in the financial industry.

At the premiere, Tseng Shu-chin and members of the La-Rien-Ren Children's Choir performed the theme song "Runaway Dream." For Tseng Shu-chin, this held a special meaning of "inheritance." She hopes that audiences will relive the emotions with the melody of the song and evoke shared memories across generations for every viewer. (Edited by Li Shu-hua) 1150707
