(Central News Agency, Kaohsiung, July 7) Kaohsiung City's Chongyang Elderly Gift is scheduled to be distributed starting October 2nd, benefiting over 590,000 seniors. The Kaohsiung City Government has added 35 bank transfer services this year, with registration open until the end of July, offering diverse and convenient choices for seniors and their families.
The Kaohsiung City Government's Social Affairs Bureau explained today that in previous years, the Chongyang Elderly Gift was mainly disbursed through accounts at farmers' and fishermen's associations and post offices, or delivered by district office staff. However, some seniors had expressed a desire for more financial institution options as they did not use post office accounts.
The Kaohsiung City Social Affairs Bureau stated that to enhance administrative convenience, 35 transfer financial institutions, including Bank of Taiwan, have been added this year. Citizens can apply from now until July 31st at the social affairs sections of their respective district offices or at the Social Affairs Bureau. The aim is to reduce inconvenience for seniors in the welfare application process by opening up bank account transfer services.
According to a press release from the Social Affairs Bureau, Indigenous people aged 55 to 64 and seniors aged 65 to 89 will receive NT$1,500; those aged 90 to 99 will receive NT$5,000; and centenarians aged 100 and above will receive NT$10,000.
The Social Affairs Bureau added that eligibility for this year's Chongyang Gift includes those born before December 31, 1961, and Indigenous people born before December 31, 1971. They must have been registered residents of Kaohsiung before June 30th this year and their household registration must not have been moved out before September 18th. (Editor: Chen Ren-hua) 1150707
