(CNA, Taipei, July 7) The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) visited Taiwan today as a delegation and announced the welcome of six Taiwanese legislators, three each from the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), to the IPAC cross-party network. IPAC emphasized that this visit aims to demonstrate cross-national solidarity, firmly oppose Beijing's suppression, and stand with the 23 million people of Taiwan.
IPAC issued a press release in the evening stating that the IPAC delegation arrived in Taiwan today. The delegation members are parliamentarians from four continents globally and will engage in in-depth exchanges with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung, and Secretary-General of the National Security Council Wellington Koo. The Beijing authorities have recently intensified their efforts to isolate Taiwan diplomatically and restrict its international space. The delegation's visit aims to demonstrate cross-national solidarity and firmly oppose Beijing's suppression.
IPAC stated that to strengthen international solidarity and exert a deterrent effect, IPAC continues to expand its alliance. Six Taiwanese legislators have been officially welcomed into the IPAC cross-party network, clearly conveying to the world that Taiwan is not alone, and the world welcomes Taiwan with open arms as an indispensable and valued partner on the international stage.
IPAC said that at the invitation of co-chairs Legislator Chen Chih-tzu and Legislator Fan Yun, TPP Legislator Hsu Chung-hsin, Legislator Hung Yu-hsiang, and Legislator Wang An-hsiang, along with DPP Legislator Chen Kuan-ting, Legislator Wang Ting-yu, and Legislator Chang Ya-lin, have officially joined IPAC, fully demonstrating the increasingly close connection between Taiwan and the global network.
IPAC mentioned that the delegation's visit comes at a time when the Chinese Communist Party is intensifying its state-level coercive measures. Although IPAC branches in Europe, Latin America, and Africa continue to face threats and intimidation from the CCP, the delegation's stance remains firm. Regardless of any actions China takes, Taiwan's international friends will ensure that this door of welcome remains open, and will even widen it. At the same time, the delegation reiterated its firm stance of standing with the 23 million people of Taiwan. (Editor: Lin Hsing-meng) 1150707
