(CNA, reporter He Xiu Ling, Taipei, July 8) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released the details of 232 affected products contaminated with the carcinogen benzopyrene from Chung Lien oil products, with several convenience store fresh food items included. 7-ELEVEN stated that it has already removed batches of products with concerns from shelves in advance. FamilyMart and Hi-Life stated that their currently supplied products do not use the oil products in question announced by the FDA. Hypermarket chains RT-Mart and supermarket PX Mart have also initiated preventive removal from shelves.

The FDA released the first batch of 232 affected product details on the evening of July 7, including several 7-ELEVEN fresh food items produced by Kuang Chuan Foods, such as the Lin Tsung-ming Chicken Rice Onigiri and Fu Hang Soy Milk Classic Onigiri.

7-ELEVEN stated that it has completely removed products from the batches with concerns from shelves immediately and will follow the regulations of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to assist consumers with the Kuang Chuan Foods products with affected batch numbers purchased at stores.

Kuang Chuan Foods also issued a statement on the evening of July 7, stating that in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and relevant units for investigation and operations, it has replaced the problematic oil products with compliant ones immediately and has initiated the preventive removal of products with concerns. All products currently produced are legal and compliant.

In addition, Lin Tsung-ming Braised Pot Rice stated on July 7 that the "Lin Tsung-ming Chicken Rice Onigiri" co-developed with 7-ELEVEN is only sold through the 7-ELEVEN channel. Its raw material procurement, production, and supply chain management are the responsibility of the cooperative food manufacturing vendor, which is different from the raw materials and oil supply chain used in Lin Tsung-ming Braised Pot Rice's stores. Lin Tsung-ming Braised Pot Rice stated that it has completed an inventory of oil sources at its stores and confirmed that it is not involved with the problematic oil products announced in this incident. It will continue to track the progress of the investigation of cooperative products to protect consumer rights.

FamilyMart stated that it has conducted a comprehensive inventory and that its currently supplied private label products do not use the oil products in question announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Hi-Life also stated that all products currently sold on its shelves are made with qualified oil products and comply with food safety regulations.

In terms of hypermarket channels, RT-Mart stated that it has completed the product inventory and disclosed relevant information. It has also notified all branches to carry out preventive removal operations. PX Mart stated that its private label cooked food brand "Mei Wei Tang" and all PX Mart cooked food items have completed product inventory, and relevant items will be progressively removed from shelves as a preventive measure.
