Chung Lien Oil Case Recall List Grows to 401 Items, Including Chia Tai Chicken Breast, Wei Wang Instant Noodles, and Convenience Store Ready-to-Eat Meals

(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 8) Regarding the Chung Lien Oil case of exceeding carcinogen limits, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced the latest list of precautionary recalls, adding 169 items. The number of affected products has increased from 232 to 401, including Golden Age, Chia Tai chicken breast, Wei Wang instant noodles, and convenience store ready-to-eat meals, as the food safety storm intensifies.

The carcinogen benzo(a)pyrene in Chung Lien's "Soybean Salad Oil" exceeded the limit. A total of 1,300 metric tons flowed to companies such as Taishin, Fwusow, and Formosa Oil, affecting 18 products across 30 batches. The number of affected businesses is 360. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced yesterday that it has identified 331 businesses and is tracking 29.

The FDA has set up a special section for the Chung Lien Oil case on its official website to update the latest handling status daily. Following the announcement of the first batch of 232 product details yesterday, including names, expiration dates or shelf lives, and other identifying information, 43.278 metric tons have been recalled.

The latest list of precautionary recalled products announced today, as of 2:00 PM on July 8, also includes new information such as product packaging and expiration dates.

The list of 169 newly added products includes several well-known brands, such as Golden Age's 6 items including Creamy Corn Soup and Seafood Hot Pot; Lao Xie Zhen's 2 items including "TOMMI - White Sauce Cod Steak Rice Burger" and "TOMMI - Seafood Shrimp Steak Rice Burger"; Louisa's 33 items including Pad Krapow Moo and Caesar Dressing; Chia Tai's 45 items including Italian Classic Tender Chicken Breast; and Wei Wang's 8 items including Golden Wei Wang Braised Beef Noodles and Smoked Tofu Chicken Soup Noodles.

In addition, there are 14 items from Ping Rong Food's Xinfeng factory, which serves convenience stores, including (Ready-to-eat meal) Braised Lion's Head (4/24/116-4/30/116), (Ready-to-eat meal) Sweet and Sour Chicken Cubes (4/24/116-4/30/116), and Pan-fried Egg and Fried Pork Chop Donburi (4/24/116-5/1/116).
