TAIPEI (CNA) - Affected by recent torrential rains in Guangxi, China, Taiwan Cement Corporation (TCC) announced that its Guigang plant in Guangxi will suspend operations for approximately one month for repairs due to flood damage to some equipment. The Guigang plant accounts for about 2.1% of TCC's consolidated revenue in 2025. The company has initiated cross-regional supply coordination, with its Guangdong Yingde plant taking over supply. Customer shipments will not be affected, and the actual financial and operational impact is still under assessment.
TCC stated today that due to Typhoon Maysak and its circulation, Guangxi, China, recently experienced rare torrential rains, with rainfall equivalent to the storage capacity of 65.6 West Lakes in one day. Some equipment at TCC's Guigang plant in Guangxi was damaged by flooding, and preliminary assessments indicate a suspension of operations for about one month for repairs.
TCC said it immediately completed cross-regional supply coordination. Orders originally supplied by the Guigang plant are now fully handled by the Guangdong Yingde plant for production and shipment. Customer supply and shipment schedules remain unaffected. The Guangxi Guigang plant is covered by property insurance, and related losses will be processed according to insurance claims procedures. The actual impact on TCC's finances and operations is currently being evaluated.
TCC pointed out that it immediately activated an emergency response mechanism after the disaster. The general manager of the South China Operations Center led a team to Guigang, Guangxi, to coordinate plant repairs, supply dispatch, and post-disaster recovery efforts. A special project team was established to assess the damage to the plant and expedite equipment repairs. The company aims to resume operations as quickly as possible and with the highest safety standards to ensure subsequent production safety and operational stability.
In addition to fully dedicating resources to plant recovery, TCC is also closely monitoring the disaster situation in surrounding communities. Under the premise of ensuring rescue safety, the company is investing necessary resources to assist nearby residents with post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. (Editor: Lin Ke-lun) 0708
