(London, July 7, CNA Foreign News) Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, after enduring the longest quarterfinal match in Wimbledon history, triumphantly advanced to the semifinals in a grueling five-set thriller against Canadian talent Felix Auger-Aliassime today. He will now face Jannik Sinner for a spot in the final.

According to Agence France-Presse, Djokovic (Novak Djokovic) suffered an injury in the first set but the incredibly resilient former world No. 1 persevered through the pain. He ultimately won with a score of 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (10-4). The match lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes and was played in hot weather.

In contrast, Sinner (Jannik Sinner) defeated veteran German player Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets today. Djokovic, however, paid a greater price to defeat the tournament's No. 3 seed Auger-Aliassime (Felix Auger-Aliassime) in what was arguably one of the most hard-fought battles in Wimbledon history.

When asked how he defeated Auger-Aliassime, Djokovic stated, "With my racquet and a fighting heart. I was able to manage my emotions, my nerves, and the immense pressure that comes with these matches. In the end, it was really a coin toss, anyone could have won. I can only say that it's moments like these that keep me playing tennis."

He added, "I kept telling the kids to go to bed, but I'm glad they stayed because this is one of the most exciting matches I've ever played on Centre Court in my career."

The 39-year-old Djokovic is currently pursuing his 25th Grand Slam title. If successful, he would set a new historical record and also tie Roger Federer's record of 8 Wimbledon men's singles championships.

While today's match may not have been his most flawless performance, in terms of sheer grit, it was undoubtedly one of the most admirable displays of his career.

In the ninth game of the first set, he strained his left calf and had to receive medical treatment. After the medical timeout, Djokovic got back on his feet and returned to the court, receiving a thunderous ovation from the crowd. He ultimately went on to win the first set.

The 25-year-old Auger-Aliassime then took the second set, before Djokovic regrouped and claimed the third.

In the fourth set, Djokovic led 2-0 at one point, but Auger-Aliassime showed remarkable resilience, successfully turning the tide and forcing the match into a deciding fifth set.

The final set was filled with suffocating tension from start to finish. Ultimately, Djokovic roared to the sky after securing victory, completing one of the most tenacious and iconic wins of his illustrious career.
