(Central News Agency reporter Huang Chao-wen, Taipei, July 8) The Taipei International Summer Travel Fair will open on July 17. Travel industry insiders observe that short-haul trips to Japan and South Korea remain the most popular, with fall foliage tours receiving high inquiries. Long-haul travel, such as European Christmas markets, New Year's Eve, and next year's Lunar New Year trips, are also very popular.
The 2026 Taipei International Summer Travel Fair will be held from July 17 to 20 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. A press conference was held today, continuing last year's "one ticket for four days" model. Popular domestic and international itineraries, cruise vacations, luxury hotels, and other products will be launched on-site, making it convenient for the public to plan their summer vacation, autumn and winter, and even next year's travel.
Kohl's Travel Marketing System Vice President Lin Guan-xian told CNA reporters that observing market trends, consumers no longer only focus on price but place more emphasis on itinerary content and unique experiences. Among them, Seoul and Busan fireworks festivals in South Korea, as well as characteristic experience tours combining Korean drama elements, have driven product sales.
Lin Guan-xian pointed out that in Japan, travel demand has gradually extended from popular cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido to Fukuoka. The main reasons are the short flight time, proximity to the city center, and the continuous discussion of attractions such as Aso, Kumamoto, and Yufuin on social media platforms, attracting more and more travelers.
Lion Travel stated that the autumn and winter travel market is gradually heating up. Short-haul travel is most popular with Japan and South Korea fall foliage products, including Hokkaido and Kyushu in Japan, and Seoul and Busan in South Korea. The overall sales rate of Northeast Asia fall foliage products has exceeded 50%.
In terms of long-haul travel, Lion Travel pointed out that most orders are for European Christmas markets, New Year's Eve, and next year's Lunar New Year trips. New Year's Eve tours to Australia/New Zealand and New York are selling well. It is speculated that due to the influence of the stock market and economy, people are more willing to plan high-priced long-haul travel in advance.
In addition to travel agencies offering discounted itineraries, in terms of meal vouchers and accommodation vouchers promotions, Silks Place Hotels Group offers accommodation and dining vouchers with discounts as low as 48% off; Cosmos Hotel Group offers joint accommodation vouchers for its six hotels starting from 22% off; Taipei Fullerton Hotel East offers limited-time accommodation sales starting from 29% off; Grand Hotel Taipei offers super value discounts starting from 36% off.
