(CNA Taipei, July 8) It has been 4 years since former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot and killed on July 8, 2022, while giving a campaign speech on the streets of Nara City. President Lai Ching-te posted in Japanese on social media platform X today, expressing deep gratitude for Abe's determination to protect democracy and freedom, as well as his firm support for Taiwan.
President Lai stated that today marks the 4th anniversary of the passing of Taiwan's dear friend and distinguished statesman, Shinzo Abe.
President Lai said he deeply appreciates Abe's determination to protect democracy and freedom, and his firm support for Taiwan.
