(CNA Kyiv, July 8 - Combined Reports) On the eve of the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, Russia continued its attacks, launching a new round of assaults on Ukraine overnight, resulting in at least 2 deaths and multiple injuries.
A Reuters correspondent in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, reported hearing the first loud explosions before the air raid sirens sounded, followed by four consecutive blasts.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that warehouses and a non-residential building in two districts of the capital caught fire due to missile attacks.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that air raids in Kyiv city injured 2 people.
Vitaliy Kim, the military commander of the southern Mykolaiv Oblast, said that Russian forces attacked with guided aerial bombs, causing the deaths of a mother and daughter and injuring two others.
Prior to this intense offensive, Russia launched multiple attacks on Ukraine on July 6, with Kyiv being hit by several missiles, resulting in 30 deaths.
Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky are expected to meet today during the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey.
