Key Iran War News
(Central News Agency, Ankara, 8th, Comprehensive Foreign News) U.S. President Trump said today that the ceasefire agreement with Iran has ended, and he described Tehran as "sick." This comes after Washington launched a new round of airstrikes against Iran, and Iran announced an attack on U.S. military bases in the Persian Gulf.
According to Agence France-Presse, Trump, attending a NATO summit in the Turkish capital Ankara, was asked if the ceasefire with Iran was over and replied: "As far as I'm concerned, that's over... dealing with them is a waste of time."
Reuters reported that Trump said the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran to end the conflict "is over," and that he does not intend to engage with Tehran again.
The temporary ceasefire agreement, brokered by Pakistan, was intended to provide a 60-day window for negotiations on a permanent agreement. However, indirect talks in Qatar last week made no progress, and the U.S. military launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran yesterday.
Standing next to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump also said: "They are scum, a sick group of people, and the people leading them are sick. As far as I'm concerned, dealing with them is a waste of time."
After three oil tankers were hit by missiles in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States yesterday revoked the sanctions waiver that allowed Iran to sell oil. (Compiled by: He Hongru) 1150708
