(CNA Reporter Chiang Mei-hsin Taipei, July 8) Formosa Wind & Power announced today that it has signed an operation and maintenance contract for the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm's CTV with Yunlin Wind Power, expanding its footprint. In recent years, the company has continued to promote its dual-engine growth strategy of "offshore energy and AI submarine infrastructure."
Formosa Wind & Power, an Asian offshore energy and subsea cable operator, announced in a press release today that it signed a ceremony on July 7 with Yunlin Wind Power for a long-term operation and maintenance contract for the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm's CTV (Crew Transfer Vessel).
Formosa Wind & Power stated that it will leverage its fleet, integrated maritime engineering capabilities, and offshore operational experience to provide operation and maintenance support services for offshore wind farms, strengthen customer relationships, and further expand Formosa Wind & Power's presence in the Taiwanese offshore wind power market.
The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm, developed by Yunlin Wind Power, is jointly invested by Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, EGCO Group, and Sojitz Corporation. It commenced commercial operation in July 2025 with a designed capacity of 640MW, and all 80 wind turbines have completed grid connection and operation.
Formosa Wind & Power pointed out that the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm can supply approximately 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, meeting the electricity needs of over 600,000 households and supporting 90% of Yunlin County's non-industrial electricity demand. This reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.2 million metric tons annually, marking an important milestone for Taiwan's energy transition and renewable energy development.
Formosa Wind & Power stated that in recent years it has continued to promote its dual-engine growth strategy of "offshore energy and AI submarine infrastructure," establishing a highly visible and predictable profit base. Simultaneously, it is actively expanding into high-growth markets such as AI submarine communication cable projects, and offshore natural gas in Northern Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Formosa Wind & Power is optimistic that with the delivery and commissioning of five large, high-specification engineering vessels between the end of 2026 and 2028, it will usher in the next phase of its growth cycle. (Editor: Chang Liang-chih) 1150708
