(Central News Agency reporter Chen Chih-chung Hsinchu, July 8) The meeting of city and county education bureau chiefs was held in Hsinchu County today. Cities and counties jointly discussed how to "reduce administrative workload," proposing the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to assist in classifying official documents and organizing data, and employing technological tools to help new administrators, so that campus administrative work is no longer something everyone avoids.
During today's meeting, the 22 city and county education bureau chiefs were divided into 3 groups to discuss administrative reduction issues, with representatives then selected to report. Among them, Hsinchu County Education Bureau Chief Tsai Shu-chen and New Taipei City Education Bureau Chief Chang Ming-wen utilized technological tools to quickly organize the complex 105-minute discussion content into several slides with rich graphics and text, demonstrating AI application capabilities on site.
Tsai Shu-chen pointed out that in the past, official documents were forwarded layer by layer. AI tools can assist in document classification. Taoyuan City's implementation has shown that AI accuracy is extremely high and it is worth promoting nationwide. Additionally, things like digital student IDs, digital learning platforms, and campus safety reporting systems can also be optimized through AI, reducing manual operation time.
Elementary and middle schools often struggle to find people to take on administrative roles. Tsai Shu-chen indicated that technological tools can be used to assist new administrators in handling reimbursement, curriculum planning, campus safety, and other tasks. She also suggested that schools' general affairs should be handled by dedicated civil servants rather than teachers taking on additional duties, and that multiple schools could jointly hire such personnel.
Chang Ming-wen also mentioned that what used to take 4 hours for meeting minutes can now be completed in 30 minutes with AI assistance. He also suggested establishing a shared AI platform for education administration, integrating central and local information systems, and using a single database.
During today's meeting, Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao and the 22 city and county education bureau chiefs jointly signed 4 major commitments, one of which includes comprehensively considering learning hours, teaching hours, school size, and operational needs to provide appropriate teacher staffing and flexibly allocate diverse administrative human resources.
Cheng Ying-yao also agreed with the 22 city and county education bureau chiefs to actively introduce AI and information tools to comprehensively simplify operational processes. By advancing on parallel tracks of "human resource support" and "technological empowerment," the stable operation of school administrative efficiency will be ensured. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150708
