(CNA reporter Wu Chi-lin Helsinki, July 8) A heatwave has been claiming lives across Europe, yet a resort in Norway's central mountains saw snowfall on a July morning yesterday.

The snowfall occurred in the Hafjell resort area, located in central Norway at an altitude of approximately 970 meters, according to Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK). Residents, hearing of the approaching heatwave, opened their windows to find white snow.

A hotel shared a video of the snowfall online, writing, "Norway has delivered consecutive surprises in the World Cup, and we've also delivered July snow." Hotel receptionist Tobias Tønnessen said most guests treated the snow as a special experience.

Meteorological expert Leonidas Tsopouridis stated that the low-pressure system forming the snow moved south from between Greenland and Iceland, crossed the Norwegian Sea, and reached the central inland mountainous areas. Wednesday is expected to remain cold, with temperatures potentially dropping close to 0 degrees Celsius.

Lars Ivar Ødegaard, who brought his family to the mountains from Bærum, a suburb of the capital, told NRK that he had planned a cycling holiday but encountered snow instead. His plans are now ruined, and he can only resort to reading indoors. He laughed, saying, "Perhaps there's nothing else to do but eat a slice of pizza." (Editor: Chen Hui-ping) 1150708
