Magong, Penghu: Car and Motorcycle Collision Results in Fatal Injuries for Rider

(Central News Agency, Penghu County, July 8) A traffic accident involving a passenger car and a motorcycle occurred today at the intersection of Zhongxiao Road and Mingyuan Road in Magong City, Penghu County. The motorcycle rider, a Mr. Hu in his 30s, was critically injured and sent to the hospital. Despite emergency transport to Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. The cause of the accident is under police investigation.

At approximately 8:54 AM today, the Magong Police Precinct received a report of a traffic accident between a passenger car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Zhongxiao Road and Mingyuan Road in Magong City. Officers were dispatched to the scene. The injured motorcycle rider was sent to the Penghu Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transported by ambulance helicopter to Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for further medical attention. However, he tragically passed away from his injuries this afternoon. The driver of the passenger car was unharmed.

Police investigation indicates that the motorcycle, ridden by Mr. Hu, was traveling south on Zhongxiao Road from north to south. The passenger car was driven by a woman, traveling east on Mingyuan Road from west to east. The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Zhongxiao and Mingyuan Roads. Preliminary breathalyzer tests for both parties at the scene showed zero blood alcohol content. The cause of the accident is under police investigation.

The Magong Police Precinct urges all road users to slow down when approaching intersections, for vehicles on secondary roads to yield to those on main roads, and to remain vigilant of traffic ahead at all times.
