Hsinchu City Increases Hourly Rate for Public Preschool Extended Care Staff to NT$480

(Central News Agency, reporter Lu Kang-chuan, Hsinchu City, July 8) The Hsinchu City Government announced today that starting from the first semester of the 115 academic year, the hourly rate for childcare service personnel providing extended care services and holiday care in public preschools will be increased from NT$400 to NT$480 per hour.

An official from the Hsinchu City Government's Department of Education told CNA that starting from the 114 academic year, the Ministry of Education has standardized the fees for parents applying for extended care services on weekdays, requiring a monthly payment of only NT$1,540. During winter and summer vacations, the monthly fee will be NT$2,000, reducing the situation where parents might have to bear higher costs due to a small number of participants.

To encourage childcare teachers to participate in extended care work, stabilize the childcare workforce, and improve the quality of public childcare services, the Hsinchu City Government will use its own funds to increase the hourly rate for childcare service personnel providing extended care services and holiday care in public preschools from the current NT$400 to NT$480, starting from the 115 academic year.

To continue supporting disadvantaged families, the Hsinchu City Government issued a press release stating that economically disadvantaged children who meet the eligibility criteria will receive full subsidies for extended care services and will be exempt from fees. Additionally, for children with disabilities, preschools that enroll three or fewer children with disabilities can apply to add one teacher's assistant.
