TAIPEI, Taiwan (CNA) - Benefiting from strong demand for artificial intelligence (AI) servers, contract manufacturer Wistron announced today that its consolidated revenue for June was approximately NT$321.822 billion, an increase of 10.9% month-on-month and 53.9% year-on-year, marking its second highest monthly revenue and the highest for the same period in history. Consolidated revenue for the second quarter was NT$895.443 billion, a 5.8% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 62.4% increase year-on-year, setting a new quarterly record.
Inventec's consolidated revenue for June was approximately NT$102.262 billion, surpassing NT$100 billion for the first time. This represents a 23.5% increase month-on-month and a 61.6% increase year-on-year, setting a new monthly record. Consolidated revenue for the second quarter was NT$269.857 billion, a 34.7% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 44.7% increase year-on-year, also a new quarterly record.
Wistron shipped 2 million notebook computers in June, an increase of 300,000 units from the previous month. Desktop computer shipments in June were 800,000 units, an increase of 200,000 units from the previous month. Monitor shipments in June were 1 million units, an increase of 50,000 units from the previous month.
Wistron stated that due to component shortages, including memory, which are driving up end-product prices, notebook shipments are expected to decrease quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter. The outlook for desktop computer and monitor shipments has been revised upwards from a projected decrease to remaining flat compared to the second quarter. The company maintains its view of sequential growth in AI-related businesses.
Inventec shipped 2.4 million notebook computers in June, an increase of 900,000 units from the previous month. Shipments for the second quarter were 5.4 million units, remaining flat compared to the first quarter and a decrease of 3.6% year-on-year.
Inventec indicated that due to customers' early order pull-ins, shipments are expected to decline in the third quarter. Server shipments are still projected to increase quarter-on-quarter, but actual performance will depend on component availability due to material shortages. (Editor: Lin Chia-han) 1150708
