Key News on US-Iran War

(Central News Agency Washington/Dubai, July 8, Comprehensive Foreign News) The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today that US forces attacked more than 80 targets in the latest wave of airstrikes against Iran in response to Iran's attack on three merchant ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz, and warned Tehran that the US will hold it accountable if it violates the temporary agreement between the two countries again.

According to reports from Agence France-Presse and the Associated Press, US forces issued a statement on the social platform X stating, "US forces struck Iran's air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar stations, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 small speedboats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in and around the Strait of Hormuz."

The US launched a new wave of airstrikes early this morning, just hours after three merchant ships were attacked in the strait. This is the latest round of military exchanges between the US and Iran, putting the temporary agreement aimed at ending the conflict to the test once again.

CENTCOM stated that the attack was launched to "impose a heavy price for attacks on innocent merchant vessels and their crews in international waters."

Iran has confirmed it was subjected to airstrikes but has not disclosed any details of losses.

Iranian state media reported that explosions were heard in Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi posted on X that the US attack violated the temporary agreement between the two sides.

Hours after three oil tankers were hit by missiles, the US announced the revocation of a previous license allowing Iran to sell oil. This license was part of the temporary ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran. (Compiled by Xu Ruicheng) 1150708
