(Central News Agency, Taipei, July 8) The Ministry of National Defense stated today that Minister Gu Lixiong visited the Jiupeng training ground in Pingtung yesterday to observe the "Army 115 Precision Missile Firing Exercise," which included the Shen Gong and Shen Ying exercises. He represented President Lai Ching-te in commending the officers and soldiers and urged for an increase in live-fire training frequency. This exercise was commanded by the Eighth Army Corps and involved live firing of Stinger missiles, Sky Sword II missiles, and Hellfire missiles.
The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release this morning stating that Minister of National Defense Gu Lixiong visited the Jiupeng training ground in Pingtung yesterday to observe the "Army 115 Precision Missile Firing Exercise." In addition to representing the Commander-in-Chief, President Lai Ching-te, he commended the participating officers and soldiers for their hard work. He affirmed the efforts of the brothers and sisters in long-term combat readiness preparation and live-force, live-ammunition exercises, and encouraged them to continue strengthening the overall capabilities of the troops through training methods that closely simulate actual combat.
The Ministry of National Defense explained that the Eighth Army Corps served as the command for this exercise, conducting live-fire drills at the Jiupeng training ground. The "Shen Gong Exercise" incorporated units such as the Army's 21st Artillery Command and utilized weapon systems like Avenger missile vehicles to conduct live firing of Stinger missiles and Sky Sword II missiles.
Additionally, the "Shen Ying Exercise" incorporated units such as the 601st Brigade and utilized equipment such as AH-64E and AH-1W helicopters to fire Hellfire missiles and air-launched Stinger missiles. Through live-force, live-equipment, and live-ammunition drills, the exercise verified the troops' engagement procedures and firing accuracy, demonstrating the results of the officers' and soldiers' diligent daily training.
The Ministry of National Defense mentioned that Gu Lixiong not only inquired about the care and preparation of the exercise personnel but also highly affirmed the excellent performance of the officers and soldiers who fully committed to the training, showcasing their proficient teamwork and superior combat skills. He encouraged all officers and soldiers to continue adhering to the principles of "strictness, difficulty, and realism," to increase the frequency of live-fire training, and, while ensuring training safety, to strive to design training grounds that closely simulate real combat scenarios, continuously enhance the troops' combat power, and ensure national security.
