(CNA, Taipei, July 8) In response to the approaching Typhoon Bavi, the University Admissions Committee announced today that, under the premise of ensuring the safety of candidates and examination staff, it has been decided to postpone the Subject Tests. The exams originally scheduled for July 11 and 12 will now be held on July 13 and 14.

The University Admissions Committee issued a press release today stating that the 115th academic year Subject Tests were originally scheduled for July 11 and 12. In response to the approaching Typhoon Bavi, the Admissions Committee held an emergency response team meeting, inviting relevant units such as the Ministry of Education, the College Entrance Examination Center, the Central Weather Administration, the Centers for Disease Control, Taiwan Power Company, and the Examination Affairs Committee to jointly discuss.

The Admissions Committee explained that the emergency response team consulted the latest forecast information from the Central Weather Administration at the time. The most significant wind and rain were expected on the 10th and 11th. Since the 10th was the original date for candidates to view the examination rooms, and the 11th was the first day of the original examination, a typhoon intrusion would seriously affect candidate safety and the examination.

Furthermore, the College Entrance Examination Center also considered that the transportation of examination papers from the secure facility, preparation of examination rooms, and dispatch of invigilation personnel would face execution difficulties due to the typhoon. After comprehensive evaluation and further consultation of the Central Weather Administration's forecast information at 8:00 AM on July 8, the emergency response team meeting ultimately decided to postpone the exams to July 13 and 14. This is the first time the Subject Tests have been postponed.

In response to the postponement of the Subject Tests, the results announcement date has been changed to August 3. The subsequent admission operations for the university general admission channel will also be postponed accordingly. The application period for volunteer selection will be postponed to August 5-8, and the announcement of results will be postponed to August 17. Related information will be posted on the homepage of the University Entrance Examination Center's website.

The Admissions Committee mentioned that this decision is a preventive measure based on the meteorological information currently available. If the typhoon's slow movement or expanding impact continues to affect the examination, the emergency response team will adjust the situation and announce further response measures. Candidates and parents are urged to pay close attention to the latest news released on the official websites of the Admissions Committee and the College Entrance Examination Center.
