(Central News Agency, reporter Cai Mengyu, Kaohsiung, July 8) A resident in Kaohsiung posted on social media alleging that a dog owner brought their dog to a park without a leash, leading to repeated dog bites and injuries to family members. The city's Animal Protection Office stated that the owner will be notified to appear for questioning and will be penalized according to relevant regulations.

The netizen accused a dog owner of bringing their dog to multiple parks in Kaohsiung's Daliao District and other areas without a leash, resulting in dog bites and injuries to family members. This was not the first incident, with two previous police reports on record, and another incident occurring on July 6.

The netizen stated that all three incidents involved the same owner and the same dog, and the dog was never on a leash. Communication with the owner yielded no results, with the owner consistently believing it was not their problem. After reporting the incident on July 6, the owner allegedly said, "The Animal Protection Act only imposes fines, I don't care."

The Kaohsiung Animal Protection Office responded today, stating that there are currently no reported records of this case. They will request assistance from the police to provide the owner's information and notify them to appear for questioning. Penalties will be imposed according to the Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Self-Government Ordinance and other relevant regulations.

The Animal Protection Office stated that according to the Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Self-Government Ordinance, owners who bring pets into public places or places accessible to the public must use a leash, cage, or take other appropriate protective measures announced by the competent authority. Violators who refuse to improve after being advised may be fined between NT$3,000 and NT$15,000, and may be penalized for each offense. (Editor: Zhang Yajing) 1150708
