Key News on US-Iran War
TEHRAN, July 9 (CNA) -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced today in a statement that they have launched airstrikes against US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in retaliation for a new round of US airstrikes, and threatened to expand their strikes.
According to Agence France-Presse and Reuters, Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated today that the Strait of Hormuz will only be opened "under Iran's arrangements" and not due to threats from the United States.
The IRGC, in a statement published by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), said they attacked "important infrastructure and facilities" at US bases in Kuwait, including Arifjan and Ali Al Salem, and in Bahrain, including Juffair and Sheikh Isa, with missiles and drones.
They also warned that if the US attacks Iran again, their retaliatory actions will expand to other bases in the Middle East.
Qalibaf said on social media platform X: "The US has not yet learned that bullying and breaking promises are no longer without cost. I want to emphasize: if you attack, you will be counterattacked."
