Taiwan Stocks Fall 379.80 Points

(CNA Taipei, July 9) The Taiwan stock market closed down 379.80 points today at 45354.61 points, a decrease of 0.83%, with a transaction value of NT$944.341 billion.

The weighted stock index opened at 45805.62 points, reaching a high of 46064.06 points and a low of 45352.41 points during the session; the index excluding financial stocks was 40733.51 points, down 325.93 points.

Percentage changes for the eight major stock categories: Cement and ceramics stocks fell 1.24%, food stocks fell 0.19%, petrochemical stocks fell 2.31%, textile stocks fell 1.90%, machinery and electrical stocks fell 0.77%, paper stocks fell 0.77%, construction stocks rose 0.03%, and financial stocks fell 1.26%.

Buy orders totaled 20,082,368 shares, sell orders totaled 13,906,811 shares, and transactions totaled 10,336,477 shares.

At the close, 431 stocks advanced, 584 declined, and 90 remained unchanged.

The top 5 stocks by transaction volume were AU Optronics, Innolux, Fubon Taiwan Weighted 2X ETF, Yuanta Taiwan 50 ETF, and Capital Taiwan Equity Fund.

The top 5 stocks by percentage gain were Liming, TAIHON, B.C.C. TAIWAN CORP., YUAN BANG, and WHA.
