(Central News Agency Reporter Wang Hsin-yu Taipei, July 9) The PTS Taiwanese Hokkien drama "Goodbye 1987" released a character trailer for Lin Che-hsi today. He believes the most similar aspect between him and the character is the desire to take care of the big picture in his own way. To portray a contemporary figure, he put in a lot of effort to learn Korean and Japanese, doing extensive language preparation.
"Goodbye 1987" recently screened a special edition at the Taipei Film Festival. Lin Che-hsi also rushed back to Taiwan from Tokyo. He said, "Seeing the images flash by felt like we truly experienced 40 years of youth together. We weren't trying to imitate history, but to feel the state of people in that era who held dreams, wanted to gather, yet were powerless."
Lin Che-hsi stated that he deeply resonates with "Junxian," the character he plays. "Some people want to be heroes who change the world, while others want to be the ones who protect the heroes behind the scenes. Junxian is the second type. He wants to protect the people around him but is gradually pushed further and further away, unable to return home." He also revealed that he put in a lot of effort to deliver the Korean and Japanese lines well.
"Goodbye 1987" will premiere on PTS Taigi on August 30. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150709
