US-Iran War Key News

(CNA Tehran, 9th, Comprehensive Foreign News) The US military announced that in a new round of airstrikes, they targeted approximately 90 Iranian military objectives, focusing on assets such as air defense systems, missile, and drone storage facilities. Iranian state media reported that a railway bridge in the northeast was attacked, but the US military statement did not mention this bridge.

According to a consolidated report from Agence France-Presse and CNN, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) released a statement on the social media platform X, stating that the US military "completed another round of airstrikes against Iran, further degrading Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian crews in the Strait of Hormuz."

Iran, in turn, launched retaliatory airstrikes. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran stated that they had attacked "critical infrastructure and facilities" at US bases in Arifjan and Ali Al Salem in Kuwait, and in Juffair and Sheikh Isa in Bahrain.

This marks the second consecutive day of mutual airstrikes between the United States and Iran.

According to reports from Iranian state media, US airstrikes hit a railway bridge in northeastern Iran. The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that a military base in Bushehr, southern Iran, was also attacked. Bushehr is the location of Iran's only civilian nuclear power plant.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that the IRGC stated that US missiles hit a railway bridge in the Aqqala region, northeast of Tehran and near the Turkmenistan border.

CNN, through comparison of footage, showed that a railway bridge near Aqqala in videos released by Iranian media was damaged.

During a speech at the NATO summit in Turkey yesterday, US President Trump again threatened to consider targeting Iran's critical civilian infrastructure, implying that the US military might launch attacks on power plants and desalination facilities. He said, "I would not want to do that, but if necessary, we will destroy them."

Attacks on critical civilian infrastructure such as water treatment plants and power plants could be considered war crimes.

IRNA today quoted officials from Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran, reporting that US airstrikes on the outskirts of the western Iranian city of Ahvaz resulted in 3 deaths and multiple injuries. (Compiled by: Lu Ying-tzu) 1150709
