(CNA reporter Wu Che-hao, Changhua, July 9) Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Changhua County Magistrate candidate Chen Su-yue said today that if elected, she will upgrade school lunches for national and junior high schools in Changhua, prioritizing the procurement of locally produced eggs, fresh milk, and seasonal fruits. Chinese Kuomintang Changhua County Magistrate candidate Wei Ping-cheng said that meal costs will only be able to increase.

Chen Su-yue held a press conference this morning to propose the "Weekly Milk, Fruit, and Egg Free School Lunch Upgrade Plan," ensuring students receive fresh milk, fruits, and high-quality protein every week. DPP Changhua County Council Majority Leader Li Chun-yu also led several DPP councilors from Changhua County to attend and show their support.

Chen Su-yue said that investing in children is investing in the future. Currently, all counties and cities offer free school lunches. Her policy is to upgrade them to make children happier and more nourished. If elected, she will require catering companies to prioritize the procurement of local fruits and vegetables from Changhua, an agricultural powerhouse. Changhua ranks among the top in the production of many fruits and vegetables, such as milk and eggs. She hopes to achieve local production for local consumption, providing safe and nutritious ingredients.

Wei Ping-cheng told the media that he advocates for school lunch meal costs to only increase in the future, not decrease, to ensure quality. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 0709115
