(Central News Agency, Reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan Airport, July 9) Taoyuan International Airport Corporation announced this afternoon that with the approach of Typhoon Bavi, the weather service predicts the most severe wind and rain from the evening of July 10 to the early morning of July 12. Domestic airlines have canceled all flights for July 11. Passengers are advised to confirm flight information before departure.
The Airport Corporation stated this afternoon that China Airlines and EVA Air will have no flights taking off or landing between 6 PM on July 10 and 4 AM on July 12. Starlux Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan have canceled all flights on July 11. The Taoyuan Airport observation deck will also be closed preventatively starting at 6 PM on July 10.
The Airport Corporation convened its first typhoon response meeting for Typhoon Bavi today and has completed all typhoon preparedness measures. They have strengthened electronic inspections of facilities such as power, air conditioning, drainage, and jet bridges, and have prepared flood control equipment including sandbags, waterproof gates, water pumps, and generators. Protection has been enhanced in areas like underpasses, central corridor entrances, and parking lots. Water pumps have been pre-positioned in easily flooded locations, and retention ponds have been drained.
The Airport Corporation has instructed all construction contractors and supervisors to strengthen construction safety, including securing construction fences, removing or reinforcing scaffolding, dust nets, and anti-fall nets, and properly securing construction materials and equipment. Two 100-horsepower water pumps have been prepared as backup for the main construction of the Third Terminal to enhance drainage measures. Construction panels have also been removed or reinforced in advance to reduce the risk of damage from strong winds.
Given that it is the peak travel season of summer vacation and the weekend, the Airport Corporation reminds passengers to pay attention to the latest announcements from airlines and flight and transportation information on the official website of Taoyuan Airport. (Editor: Chen Qingfang) 1150709
