(Central News Agency, Penghu County, Sept. 9) As Typhoon Bavi approaches, the Penghu County Government announced that facilities related to the offshore fireworks festival have been evacuated in advance. Air traffic on the Taiwan-Penghu routes will be canceled on the afternoon of September 10, and most sea transportation services will be adjusted or canceled.

The Penghu County Government convened a typhoon preparedness meeting for Typhoon Bavi today. Vice Magistrate Lin Chieh-hsing reviewed the disaster prevention and preparedness status of various departments, urging the public to pay attention to weather warnings and take precautions against strong winds and heavy rain in advance. It is also expected that the typhoon disaster response center will be activated at Level 3 at 8:00 AM on September 10.

Lin Chieh-hsing stated that the outer circulation of the predicted super typhoon Bavi may affect Penghu, and sea winds and waves will gradually increase, requiring everyone to be highly vigilant. He has instructed the Public Works Department to implement dredging and flood control measures, strengthen patrols of public construction projects, and urged all construction sites to secure scaffolding, fences, and construction materials.

The Penghu County Government has carried out typhoon preparedness for various facilities within the fireworks festival event area, including the stage, scaffolding, drone equipment, fireworks storage areas, and tents, all of which have been secured. Art installations in areas such as the Guanyinting Park have also been completely removed. The outdoor stamp collection points for Dragon Ball Z classic characters will be temporarily closed to prevent damage to facilities caused by strong winds and to ensure public safety.

The Penghu County Tourism Department stated that for external transportation, Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines will cancel flights on the afternoon of September 10, and domestic flights will be completely suspended on September 11. Passenger ferries on the Budai route will be suspended on September 10 and 11. The Penghu Ferry will be suspended on September 10 and 12. The Dongji-Tainan Jiangjun route will be suspended from September 10 to 12. There are approximately 3,500 stranded passengers, and plans for their evacuation have been made in advance.

In addition, the Taipower Penghu District Office convened a typhoon preparedness meeting today, completing preparations for repair personnel, materials, and various types of machinery and vehicles, striving to minimize the impact of the typhoon on power supply.
