(Central News Agency reporter Hsu Chi-wei, Taipei, July 13) The first day of the 115th academic year Subject Examination took place today. The College Entrance Examination Center reported that a student was caught using a smartphone to photograph test materials, and another was found violating regulations by bringing AI glasses into the exam hall. Possession of prohibited items that compromise exam fairness may lead to disqualification.

The first day of the 115th academic year Subject Examination was held today. In the fourth session, Biology, 13,961 students registered, with 1,744 absent, resulting in an absence rate of 12.49%. The College Entrance Examination Center provided a post-exam briefing on test administration.

Dr. Chang Hsin-jen, Director of the College Entrance Examination Center, reported that during the Chemistry exam, one student was found using a smartphone in violation of rules. The student allegedly used the phone to photograph the test booklet and was stopped by proctors. After the exam, proctors asked the student to unlock the phone and confirmed that photos of the test booklet had indeed been taken. The case will be submitted to the Examination Committee for disciplinary review.

Additionally, Dr. Chang mentioned that during the Physics exam, proctors noticed a student possibly wearing smart glasses (AI glasses). After the exam, the student denied wearing them, but a metal detector test triggered an alert, confirming the presence of smart glasses. Details are still under further investigation, and the case will also be submitted to the Examination Committee for disciplinary action.

The Center reiterated that once the exam begins, any prohibited items such as smartwatches or smart glasses found in possession will be considered a violation. Depending on the severity and whether the act compromises fairness or constitutes cheating, the penalty could be as severe as disqualification from the exam. (Edited by Li Hsi-chang) 1150713
