(Central News Agency reporter Pan Zhiyi, Taipei, July 13) According to statistics from the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the Taiwan stock index closed at 45,354.61 points on July 9, down 1,426.01 points (3.05%) for the week. The plastics sector index recorded the largest decline at 9.20%, while the trading and department store sector index rose the most at 2.98%.
Last week, the total market value of all listed companies reached NT$148.038768 trillion, down NT$4.622504 trillion from the previous week, representing a decrease of approximately 3.03%.
The exchange noted that the index excluding financials dropped 1,475.62 points (about 3.5%), the index excluding electronics fell 176.21 points (about 0.74%), and the index excluding both financial and electronics sectors declined 490.51 points (about 3.02%).
The total trading value in the centralized market last week was NT$4.293901 trillion, with the trading value of all listed stocks amounting to NT$3.951815 trillion, and the weekly stock turnover rate stood at 3.3%.
The top three industries by trading value of listed stocks were: semiconductors at NT$1.369632 trillion (34.66% of total), electronic components at NT$1.123782 trillion (28.44%), and optoelectronics at NT$302.368 billion (7.65%).
The top three industries by turnover rate were: optoelectronics at 14.42%, chemicals at 11.13%, and electronic components at 9.13%.
Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to last week's close, covering 123 trading days, the total trading value in the centralized market reached NT$126.746214 trillion, with an average daily trading value of NT$1.030457 trillion.
