Key News on U.S.-Iran Conflict

(CNA, Washington, 13th – comprehensive international report) U.S. President Donald Trump stated today that the United States will 'strongly strike' Iran tonight and tomorrow. Following this, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the U.S. military has begun its third consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran.

According to CNN, Trump made the remarks during an appearance on conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt’s program, saying, 'We will strike them hard tonight and tomorrow.'

Bloomberg reported that Trump also said the U.S. would 'level Pickaxe Mountain' in Iran, adding, 'Tell the Iranians to get ready.' 'Pickaxe Mountain' refers to a site near the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan Province, central Iran, which international observers suspect houses underground secret facilities.

AFP reported that the U.S. military launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran today, marking the third consecutive night of U.S. air attacks on Iranian targets.

CENTCOM issued a statement on social media stating, 'These airstrikes will continue to impose a heavy cost on Iranian military forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.' The statement noted the strikes began at 4:45 p.m. Eastern Time (4:45 a.m. Taiwan time on the 14th). (Translation: Lu Ying-tzu) 1150714
