Father's Day Promotion: 12% Off Racquet Sports Rentals at 16 New Taipei Sports Centers

(Central News Agency reporter Wang Hung-Kuo, New Taipei, August 13) To celebrate Father's Day and encourage fathers to get active, New Taipei City Government is offering a 12% discount on temporary rentals of racquet sports facilities (table tennis, badminton, squash, pickleball, and tennis) at its 16 Citizen Sports Centers from July 27 to August 8.

To mark Father's Day on August 8, Mayor Hou Yu-ih and celebrity Huang Teng-hui visited the Sanxia Citizen Sports Center to experience the latest AI-powered tennis system. Under the guidance of national-level coach Wang Tai-hua, they participated in warm-ups, basic stroke training, and team-based rallies, showcasing the energetic fusion of technology and sports.

Mayor Hou said the smart system, which uses AI to deliver balls and enable interactive gameplay, makes tennis as easy and fun as playing a video game. Even complete beginners can achieve accurate shots in a safe and relaxed environment, gaining a strong sense of accomplishment from their very first lesson.

In a press briefing, Mayor Hou announced the 12% discount on racquet sports rentals across all 16 centers from July 27 through Father's Day, August 8. He highlighted that during the free trial operation of the San-ying Line, visitors can take the MRT directly to the Sanxia Citizen Sports Center to experience AI tennis. 'Let’s get fathers moving this Father’s Day and bring joy and health to the whole family,' he said.

Additionally, Mayor Hou visited Chen Ying-hsing in Tucheng District, this year’s honored Model Father, to extend congratulations and present him with a neck-and-shoulder massager and soft building block toys, wishing him a happy Father’s Day.

Mayor Hou praised Chen, saying, 'Mr. Chen and his wife have served as foster parents for 24 years, caring for 16 vulnerable children with selfless love. They truly deserve the title of Model Father.' (Edited by Lin Shu-hui) 1150713
