(Taipei, June 13, 2024, reporter He Xiu-Ling) Riding the wave of summer peak season demand, the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, and the 618 mid-year shopping festival, Taiwan's two major convenience store operators—Uni-President ECOutlets (7-ELEVEN) and FamilyMart—both posted record-high revenues for June. Uni-President ECOutlets reported June revenue of NT$30.619 billion, up 6.31% year-on-year. FamilyMart recorded June revenue of NT$9.59 billion, up 3.25% year-on-year.

Uni-President ECOutlets announced its first-half 2024 revenue reached NT$180.703 billion, a 5.05% increase year-on-year. In a press release, the company stated that Taiwan 7-ELEVEN continues to expand its store network, with a total of 8,293 locations including physical stores and multi-service outlets such as iFUN machines. It also continues to innovate and enhance operations across its 68 shopping malls nationwide.

To meet summer heat and holiday demand, 7-ELEVEN focused on differentiated strategies centered on membership programs, fresh food, coffee, tea beverages, and iPre-order services. By launching innovative, trending products and themed promotional campaigns, the company successfully boosted customer traffic and spending momentum, driving operational growth.

Additionally, 7-ELEVEN capitalized on rising online shopping demand during the year’s largest e-commerce event, the '618 Shopping Festival.' By integrating services such as iPre-order, iHsuahsuan, iOPEN Mall, Delivery Service, and Sell & Ship, it strengthened its proprietary e-commerce ecosystem. Leveraging its nationwide store network as parcel pickup and drop-off points further boosted performance across related product categories.

Investment subsidiaries, including 7-ELEVEN Philippines, Uni-President Precision, Starbucks, and Anyuan Information, also delivered strong performance, contributing significantly to overall revenue growth.

Looking ahead to July, Uni-President ECOutlets stated that 7-ELEVEN will continue to leverage seasonal events, high-temperature demand, K-pop collaborations, and surrounding business opportunities from international football tournaments. The chain plans to launch diverse themed activities and new trending products, combined with member-exclusive interactive mechanisms and promotional offers, to sustain customer engagement and spending momentum, supporting steady operational growth.

FamilyMart’s first-half 2024 revenue reached NT$56.986 billion, up 8.09% year-on-year. The company attributed June’s performance to store expansion, commercial opportunities from international sports events, and effective response to summer demand for healthy food and beverages, which drove growth in fresh food and general merchandise. As of June 30, FamilyMart operated 4,504 stores nationwide.

In June, with major international sports events underway, FamilyMart tapped into viewing-party dining demand by launching themed promotions for fresh food, beverages, and snacks. Through its FamilyMart APP’s delivery service, products such as microwaveable side dishes and cookies saw significant sales growth as they were delivered directly to customers’ homes.

In the fresh food segment, FamilyMart targeted consumers’ summer dietary control needs by expanding relevant product lines, with health-oriented food and beverage opportunities continuing to gain traction.

FamilyMart stated that July marks the traditional peak season for convenience stores, with summer vacation travel and heat-related consumer demand as key operational focuses. The company plans to launch diverse summer新品, marketing collaborations, and promotional campaigns, aiming to ignite a new engine for revenue growth. (Editor: Lin Jia-Xian) 1150713
