(CNA reporter Wu Min-jung, Kinmen, 13th) The Coast Guard Administration's Kinmen Coast Guard today conducted a joint maritime rescue drill, simulating a scenario in which a Kinmen-based cargo vessel operating under the 'mini-three links' framework suffered an engine room fire and mechanical failure, causing crew members to fall into the sea. In response, the Kinmen County Harbor Bureau dispatched a tugboat, while fire department personnel provided emergency medical treatment, with multiple agencies collaborating in the response.

The drill was conducted this morning in the waters off Liochiou Harbor. After the scenario was initiated, a coast guard vessel arrived on site and rescued the crew member who had fallen into the water. The unconscious casualty received emergency treatment from personnel of the Kinmen County Fire Department and was subsequently transported to Kinmen Hospital for further care. The other two crew members were taken into custody and provided with psychological support by the Kinmen Red Cross Society.

During the drill, a scenario was also simulated in which the fire reignited in the engine room of the vessel. In response, the Kinmen County Harbor Bureau dispatched a tugboat to work alongside a 100-ton patrol vessel, jointly spraying water to control the blaze.
